Mr Lambert is extremely though and has a holistic approach when treating patients. This means that he not only pays attention to your current problem but will ask questions to ascertain if there are any other factors which could be influencing your situation. It is a joy to meet someone who can join up the dots!

I was told by 2 other shoulder specialists that I needed a ‘reverse’ shoulder replacement. My physiotherapist was very surprised by this and suggested I check on that “with a very good surgeon Simon Lambert”. At the initial assessment he concluded, from the same data, that the reverse procedure wasn’t necessary - he was confident that the conventional replacement would work. This he did for me in early October, and 3 months later I’m pleased to say I have almost total recovery of movement. The whole team at Bushey were amazing and I can’t thank them enough. I lead an active life (despite being 76 years old) and I have it back.

After having seen this doctor, and have already written a positive review, I feel there is too much emphasis on getting a review in before treatment has commenced. Although Mr Lambert is well meaning, he sent me on a totally false trail suggesting my shoulder problems were due to neck trauma. I did suggest thoracic outlet syndrome on a second consultation but this was vetoed. Over a year later I managed to secure surgery for both vascular and neurogenic thoracic outlet. The delay in treatment was costly both to my pocket but of more concern to my health and wellbeing. I am more than happy to discuss this situation with Mr Lambert as soon as I am fully recovered from my surgery.

Would highly recommend anyone with shoulder injuries to see Mr Lambert. One of the nicest and most professional consultants I've ever been seen by. Thank you

This is the first review I have ever written for a doctor but I hope it is helpful to anyone considering where to get care. I went to see Mr Lambert after a protracted and complicated medical history with my shoulder which I wasn’t sure anyone could help me with. I felt utterly hopeless. He was recommended to me by a friend in the medical profession and I made the journey to see him and I only wish I had done it sooner. Above all Mr Lambert is a kind and compassionate doctor, he listened and understood not only to the problem but the impact it was having on my life and function. Mr Lambert is clearly an expert in his field, he carried out a thorough examination and identified everything which was contributing to the problem but had been overlooked by my previous surgeon. My concerns were validated and for the first time in a long time I feel I can move forward in the treatment of my shoulder and that I am under the care of someone who really knows what they are doing and cares. He didn’t treat me as though I was somebody else’s problem. I can not put into words the gratitude I have for Mr Lambert.

Profile

I am a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon with a special interest in the shoulder and elbow. I also hold an honorary academic appointment within University College London. Having worked at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital (RNOH), a specialist orthopaedic hospital, where I created a research-active, educationally-acclaimed, science-based service, integrated with and recognising the extreme importance of expert rehabilitation, I have now moved to University College London Hospital. We enjoy a national reputation for clinical excellence and clinical research, which I fully expect to contribute to over the next decade. We value our national and international collaborations, and expect to develop these further with the evolution of the service. As a component of this effort my work with the AO has offered opportunities to younger colleagues while bringing the values of the AO to a wide variety of surgeons and therapists. Truly international collaboration and exchange of ideas clearly enhances and promotes the efficacy of patient-directed care and forms the basis for the motivation behind my development of the shoulder and elbow service at UCLH.
